How do AI answers recommend law and accounting firms?
The Tasadr team · ·15 min read
Engines may recommend your firm when its pages answer the client's question in text: practice area, city, licence, fees and languages. In our October 2026 measurements, one international lawyer directory was cited most in law and accounting questions in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Egypt. Give each practice area a page, complete that listing and check your regulator's rules.

What does a client ask an AI engine before choosing a firm?
They ask for a firm in their city, in the area of their case or service, with a condition that decides the choice: the fee for a first consultation, whether the firm is licensed, its experience with that kind of case, or the language it works in. The engine may prefer a page that answers that condition in plain text.
These are questions as Google's search suggestions showed them in October 2026, in plain English here, each with what your firm's page should state to answer it. This guide belongs to local GEO.
Questions clients of law and accounting firms ask, and what the firm's page should state for each The client's question What your page should state "best law firm in Riyadh" The practice areas you cover, the district, the languages you work in, and your licence number "family law firm" A page for the family cases you take, such as custody and maintenance, and how fees are charged "law firm, first consultation at no charge" Whether the first consultation is charged, how long it lasts and how to book it "best law firm in Kuwait" Practice areas, the area of the city, languages and how to get in touch "best law firm in Dubai" The emirate the firm practises in, its licence, its practice areas, and Arabic and English "best accounting firms in Saudi Arabia" Services such as zakat, VAT and audit, and the cities and sectors you serve "best licensed accounting firm in Dammam" The licence number and the body that issued it, and the district in Dammam or Khobar Why do clients ask about the first consultation's fee?
Because they do not yet know whether their case is worth paying for. If your page says whether the first consultation is charged, how long it takes and what to bring, you have answered their first question before they call. A page that says "contact us" answers nothing an engine can pass on.
Who leads professional-services answers instead of your firm's site?
One international lawyer directory, followed in Saudi Arabia and the UAE by the sites of particular firms and businesses. In our October 2026 measurements we asked 101 questions about law, accounting and consulting firms, written the way clients type them in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Egypt, on Perplexity and Claude, and one international lawyer directory was cited in 61 of them.
That same directory was the most-cited site in all four countries: in 34 of 61 questions in Saudi Arabia, 9 of 17 in the UAE, 7 of 8 in Kuwait and 11 of 15 in Egypt.
Even so, the citations across these 101 questions spread over 962 different sites: many sites make it into answers, but few recur across many questions.
Our figures do not say why, but the difference is plain when you put the two pages side by side. A directory page lists firms by city and practice area, each with its areas, languages and contact details. A firm's own site often opens with its history and lumps every practice area into one line.
Does it hurt you that the directory leads?
No, as long as your listing there is correct and matches your site: the engine may name your firm through it, which is the outcome mentioned without a link. A citation that links to your own site can only come from your own page, and it may come when that page answers a narrow question the directory cannot, such as custody cases in Jeddah or setting up a company for a foreign investor in Riyadh.
So claim your firm's page on the directory the engines cite in your country, and complete it with the same practice areas, licence and languages as your site. The full method for earning mentions outside your site is in how AI engines learn about you beyond your own site.
What should your firm's pages say for the engine to cite them?
One page per practice area, opening with two sentences that say what you handle in it, in which city and for whom, then the detail. Six steps, in order:
- A page per practice area: one for family law, one for employment cases, one for commercial contracts, rather than an "our services" page listing ten areas in one line.
- City and district: write the cities you serve and the district your office is in. Clients ask for a firm in Riyadh or Dammam, not a firm in the Kingdom.
- Licence and qualifications: the licence number and the body that issued it, and each lawyer's or accountant's qualifications and years of practice, as text on the page rather than a picture of a certificate.
- A fee policy: whether the first consultation is charged, and how fees are charged, by the hour, by the case or by agreement, as far as your regulator's rules allow.
- A page per lawyer or accountant, with their name, licence, practice areas and languages. Google says a lawyer is an individual practitioner who may have their own profile if they deal with clients directly, and that their profile carries their name alone when several practitioners work at the firm.
- Structured data: add LegalService markup to a law firm's page, or AccountingService to an accounting firm's, matching what the page says in text, as in which structured data your site needs, and what it cannot do.
An example: a law firm in Riyadh
An illustrative example, not a real measurement: Awthaq Law Firm («مكتب أوثق للمحاماة») is a fictional firm in Riyadh, with the site awthaq-law.com. Its services page lists eight practice areas in one line, so when a client asks "family law firm in Riyadh", the engine finds no sentence on the site that answers it. It cites the lawyer directory, and names the firm through it if its listing there is complete.
So the firm writes a family law page that opens: "Awthaq Law Firm in Riyadh handles custody, maintenance and divorce cases, and the first consultation is a fixed-fee, 30-minute session." It follows with the lawyers who handle these cases and their licences, and the date the page was last reviewed. That is a sentence an engine can pass on as it stands, once the firm has checked it against its regulator's rules.
Why are law and money pages held to a higher standard?
Because Google calls topics that could significantly affect people's health, financial stability or safety "Your Money or Your Life", YMYL for short, and says its systems give even more weight on those topics to content with strong E-E-A-T: experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust.
A custody case, a contract dispute or a zakat return touches people's money and families. Google says content on these topics must be highly accurate and consistent with established expert consensus, that trust is the most important part of E-E-A-T, and gives the example of someone who wants to know how to fill in a tax return: they probably want content produced by an accounting expert.
We found no published standard like this from the chat engines. But an answer that cites your page puts a link in front of the client, who can open it and check, so make your page hold up to that check:
- A known author: the name of the lawyer or accountant who wrote or reviewed the page, their licence, and a link to their page.
- A date and a source: when the page was last reviewed, the law or article number it refers to, and a link to the official text.
- Clear limits: a sentence saying the page is general information, not advice on a particular case.
- Public corrections: a way for readers to report a mistake, and the date of the correction when you make it.
What should you check before publishing your fees or advertising your firm?
The professional rules of the body that licensed you. Law and accounting firms work under rules set by their licensing bodies, and those rules may restrict advertising, stating fees, naming clients, or phrases such as "the best" and "the first". Do not copy anything from this guide onto your page before checking your regulator's current requirements.
In Saudi Arabia, check them with the Saudi Bar Association, and with the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants for accounting firms. In Dubai, the Legal Affairs Department publishes the decisions and regulations for lawyers and legal consultants. Elsewhere in the UAE, and in Kuwait and Egypt, check with the body that licensed your firm. Links to these bodies are in this guide's sources.
The page this guide suggests is a page of checkable facts, not promotion. Even so, check every sentence on it with your regulator before you publish: what is allowed in one country may not be in another.
And what should an accounting firm write?
What a law firm writes, with one difference in the client's wording: they type "licensed" and "certified", as in "best licensed accounting firm in Dammam" and "certified chartered accountant in Jeddah". The engine only knows you are licensed from what it finds written, so say so on your page, with your licence number and the body that issued it.
Then a page per service, such as zakat, VAT, audit and bookkeeping, saying who you serve, small firms, large companies or individuals, in which cities, and how fees are charged. Clients also ask about "accounting firm prices", and a page that explains how fees are charged answers them better than one that says "request a quote".
If most of your clients are companies rather than individuals, what business buyers ask is covered in how AI answers recommend B2B companies.
An example: an accounting firm in Dammam
An illustrative example, not a real measurement: Hasafa Accounting («مكتب حصافة للمحاسبة») is a fictional firm in Dammam, with the site hasafa-cpa.com. Its first page opens: "Hasafa Accounting is a licensed firm in Dammam and Khobar that prepares zakat and VAT returns and keeps the books of small and medium-sized businesses", with its licence number and the issuing body beside it. That sentence, with the licence number, answers three conditions in the client's question: licensed, the city and the service.
How do you know whether the engine recommends your firm?
Ask it your clients' own questions, naming their practice areas and cities, then read in every answer whether your firm is named, and whether the engine cited your site or your directory listing. Do not judge from a single answer: answers can change from one ask to the next.
Tasadr (تصدَّر) is Arabic-first AI search competitive intelligence with a complete optimization workflow, from measurement to execution, until you lead AI answers. You add your firm's site, set its country and dialect and write your clients' questions, and we measure. Every answer gets one of four outcomes, cited, mentioned without a link, absent or no answer, and from them comes the Tasadr score out of 100, with an excerpt of every answer as evidence and who was cited instead of you. The full picture is in how we measure your score.
When the leader is a competing firm, the competitor analysis shows what its page has and what yours needs to lead the question. When it is the directory itself, you see it on the Source Map page. An alert reaches you only on a confirmed change.
Which mistakes keep your firm out of the answer?
Six mistakes that recur on professional firms' sites, most of them fixed by editing text:
- One "our services" page listing every practice area in a line, answering no question about any of them.
- The licence number shown only in a picture of a certificate, or missing from the site altogether.
- Pages with no author and no review date, on topics that touch people's money and families.
- The firm's name on its own site differs from its name in the lawyer directory and on its Google Business Profile.
- An Arabic version shorter than the English, while clients in Riyadh and Cairo ask in Arabic.
- Measuring questions that contain the firm's name. Whoever types your name already knows you; the client you want asks about the practice area and the city.
What can nobody promise you?
Nobody can guarantee that an engine will recommend your firm. The engine chooses its sources afresh for every question, and nobody sells a place among the sources an engine cites. What we can do is measure regularly and show you who leads your clients' questions today, where your firm is named without a link, and what to change first.
This guide does not replace your regulator's rules: what your page says about your fees, your case results and your clients is your decision under your country's rules, not ours. Our figures here come from two engines in October 2026, and they do not say why an engine chooses one directory over another.
