What is the Knowledge Graph, and how does Google know you?
The Tasadr team · ·6 min read
The Knowledge Graph is Google's database of billions of facts about people, places and things, and the source of the knowledge panels in search results. What you can do is state the same facts under the same name on your site and your Google Business Profile, and correct them wherever independent sources write about you.

What is the Knowledge Graph?
The Knowledge Graph is Google's database of billions of facts about people, places and things. Google's Arabic pages call it «الرسم البياني المعرفي». Google uses it to answer factual questions, such as, in its Arabic example, how tall the Burj Khalifa is.
Google says its facts come from a variety of public sources, from licensed data such as sports scores, stock prices and weather forecasts, and from content owners themselves, including those who suggest changes to knowledge panels they have claimed.
It is one of the terms in the Tasadr glossary, and close to it is an entity in search: a thing with one identity an engine knows, however its name is spelt.
What is a knowledge panel, and who creates it?
A knowledge panel is the box in search results that presents the Knowledge Graph's facts about a person, place or thing. Google's Arabic interface calls it «بطاقة المعلومات».
Google says its search algorithm creates these panels automatically when there is enough information on the open web. The subject of a panel, or its official representative, can claim it by signing in to one of the official sites or profiles linked to it, and can then suggest changes.
A business that serves customers at a particular location has a Business Profile instead, and Google says businesses should use Business Profile to create, claim and suggest changes to their panels. The detail is in how AI answers read your Google Business Profile and reviews.
How does your business become an entity Google knows?
There is no button to press, only consistency to build, so that every source states the same facts about it under the same name. The full steps are in what is an entity in search, and why does it matter?; three of them touch the Knowledge Graph directly:
- Your Google Business Profile. Google says businesses should use it to create and claim their panels, so it is a local business's door into what Google knows about it. Write your name, address and phone number there as they are in real life, as in what is NAP?
- Organization data on your home page. Google says it helps it understand your organisation's details and tell it apart from others, and that some of its properties can influence elements of search results, such as the logo in your knowledge panel. One of them is sameAs: the URLs of pages on other sites with more information about your organisation.
- Independent sources stating the same facts. Google says Knowledge Graph facts come from a variety of public sources, not from your site alone. How to build them, and when your business merits a Wikidata item, is in how do AI engines learn about you beyond your own site?
How do we describe Tasadr to search engines?
Our Organization structured data says that تصدَّر, Tasadr and tasadr.ai are one thing, describes it in a sentence that sets it apart from the everyday Arabic verb (it is software, not a marketing agency), and links it through sameAs to our official profiles. Its fields are listed in full in what an entity looks like in Tasadr's own data.
None of this guarantees a knowledge panel: a panel is the decision of Google's algorithm. What we control is stating the truth about ourselves in the same form everywhere, and that is what we suggest you do for your business.
What does the Knowledge Graph have to do with AI answers?
When Google announced AI Mode on 5 March 2025, it said AI Mode taps into fresh, real-time sources such as the Knowledge Graph. Its guidance for site owners says its generative AI features are rooted in its core Search ranking and quality systems and retrieve pages from its index. So the Knowledge Graph is one of the things an answer draws on, not all of it, and we do not promise that a knowledge panel makes you a source for the answer.
But a clear entity helps with every engine. Bing's guidelines say clear, consistent names for organisations, products and places improve citation accuracy, and an engine that knows your Arabic name, Latin name and domain are one thing may be less likely to attribute your words to someone else, an error that is one form of an AI hallucination.
