Does ChatGPT recommend you in the UAE in Arabic or English?
The Tasadr team · ·12 min read
ChatGPT and the other AI engines can recommend you in the UAE when your site has a page that answers your customer's question in the language they asked in, and UAE customers ask in both Arabic and English. On 205 Arabic UAE buying questions we measured on Perplexity and Claude, 84% of answers cited a .ae site.

What do your customers in the UAE ask, and in which language?
In Arabic at times and in English at others, and in their own dialect when typing on a phone. Arabic searches run along the lines of "which is the best hospital in the UAE", "best SEO company in the UAE" and "search engine optimisation Dubai", while others search in English for an agency, with phrases such as "generative engine optimization uae", "generative engine optimization services in dubai" and "ai seo agency dubai".
Of the UAE buying questions we measured, 205 questions in 12 sectors, 127 named Dubai, 42 Abu Dhabi and 28 Sharjah, and the rest the UAE as a whole. The question carries the emirate's name, and your customer may name a district or a landmark too, such as Dubai Marina or Al Reem Island; a page that names them is closer to the question.
This guide belongs to the seasons and markets topic, which starts with buying seasons in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt and its UAE buying-season calendar, from the Dubai Shopping Festival to National Day. The Egyptian market has its own guide, how ChatGPT and Google recommend your business when customers ask in Egypt, and for brands that sell in several countries there is how to lead AI answers in more than one Arab country.
Whom do engines cite on UAE buying questions?
On 205 buying questions we put the way a customer in the UAE puts them, measured on Perplexity and Claude on 11 and 12 October 2026, 84% of answers cited at least one site on the .ae domain, against 77% of answers on Saudi questions that cited a .sa site. UAE answers draw mostly on local sources.
21% of UAE answers cited a government source, against 10% on Saudi questions: the emirate's education authority on school questions, health authorities on clinic questions, the land department on property questions. Official sources turn up in UAE answers more often than elsewhere.
More than three quarters of the answers cited at least one business's own site: the clinic's, the hotel's or the firm's itself. But the picture changes from sector to sector, as the table shows.
What engines cited most on UAE buying questions, by sector, 11 and 12 October 2026 Sector What the engines cited most On how many of 17 questions Schools Guides from two large property portals, then the emirate's government education authority 17 for the portals, 11 for the education authority Restaurants A global review site, and the two property portals' guides 17 for the review site, 16 for the portals Gyms The two property portals' guides 15 Clinics An international doctor directory, and medical booking platforms 10 for the directory Hotels and car rental Booking and comparison platforms, ahead of the hotels' and rental companies' own sites 17 in each Agencies, law and software The firms' own sites 17, 17 and 16 Why do property portals answer questions about schools and restaurants?
Because they publish guides for their readers, of the "best schools in Dubai" and "best breakfast restaurants" kind. On 99 of the 188 UAE questions that had nothing to do with property, the answers cited the guides of one of the two large portals, more than half of them. A gym in Dubai competes for the answer with an article on a property site, not just with the gym next door.
We do not name these sites; we describe their kind. What matters to you is that your business's details there are right, and that your own page is the most precise source on the questions the guides cannot answer: a lawyer's fees, the time a system takes to go live, a clinic's Friday hours. What a restaurant writes on each branch's page is in how does AI choose which restaurant to recommend?, and what companies that sell to companies build is in how do AI answers recommend B2B companies?
Does the answer differ in Arabic and in English?
We do not publish a figure comparing the two until we have read our measurement of the same questions in both languages line by line: a comparison needs the same question in Arabic and English, on the same days, on the same engines.
Two things we know today. The first comes from our measurement of Arabic UAE questions in October 2026: the answers came in Arabic, with business names often left in Latin letters, so write your name in both scripts. The second comes from Google, which says it determines a page's language from its visible content rather than from code-level tags, recommends a separate URL for each language version, and advises a single language for the content and navigation of each page.
Two pages, not a translated one: what goes in each language?
The same facts in both languages, in each reader's words. Prices in dirhams, hours and branches are identical on the two pages; headings, questions and examples come from each language's customers. The Arabic-speaking customer asks for a dental clinic in Abu Dhabi that takes insurance, while the English-speaking one may write the area's name as they know it, in Latin letters and abbreviations.
Link each page to its counterpart with hreflang annotations, which Google says help its results send the reader to the right language version. Do not settle for a machine translation of the other version: a machine translation does not write in your customer's words, and Google's spam policies list, among the examples of scaled content abuse, generating many pages from scraped content, including through automated transformations such as translating, where little value is provided to users.
Measure each language on its own. Write each language's questions the way its customers write them, because the English question is not a translation of the Arabic one, and whoever merges the two languages into one figure cannot tell where they gain and where they slip. The method is in one market, one set of questions, and in Tasadr you set each site's country and the language its customers ask in, Arabic or English.
What makes an engine understand that your Arabic name and your Latin name are one business is in what is an entity in search?
Do you need an agency in Dubai, or should you measure first?
Measure first. Whoever searches for the best SEO company in the UAE, or for an agency in Dubai for optimising for AI answers (GEO), receives plenty of offers, and the hardest part of comparing them is knowing where you stand before you start. Find out today which questions you are named in and who is cited instead of you, then ask any agency for a plan on those same questions, and a report on them after the work.
How to choose between a tool, an agency and a consultant, and what to ask for in the contract, is in who is best placed to analyse your site in AI answers?, and the cost is in how much does optimising for AI answers cost?
Tasadr is a platform, not an agency: it measures where you stand, shows who leads instead of you and why, and proposes what to change. The edits to your site stay with your team or your agency.
An example: a dental clinic in Abu Dhabi, in two languages
An illustrative example: nokhatha-dental.ae is the site of Nokhatha Dental Clinic, a fictional clinic in Abu Dhabi. Its site is in English, and its Arabic version is a machine translation of three pages. A customer asks in Arabic for the best dental clinic in Abu Dhabi that takes insurance; the engine finds no answering sentence in the Arabic version, and cites a doctors' directory and a hospital site that wrote its page in Arabic.
So the clinic writes an Arabic page for each service from its Arabic patients' questions. The insurance page, for instance, opens with "Nokhatha Dental Clinic in Abu Dhabi accepts medical insurance for dental treatment; the insurers are listed in the table at the foot of the page, and the clinic sees patients on Fridays after the afternoon prayer." It keeps its English page for those who ask in English, with the same facts, links the two with hreflang, corrects its details in the doctor directories that list it, then measures each language's questions on their own.
The outcome is not guaranteed, but the clinic now has what it lacked: a page that answers its Arabic-speaking patient in their own language, in a market whose answers often cite UAE sites. What a clinic page should say, in detail, is in how your clinic leads AI answers.
How can you tell whether the engine recommends you in the UAE?
Ask the engines your customers' questions in both languages, with the emirates' and districts' names, on different days, and read who was cited: your site, a directory, a portal or a government body. The method step by step is in how to tell whether your site leads ChatGPT and Gemini answers.
In Tasadr we record one of the four outcomes for every answer and show you who was cited instead of you on every question. Prices are in US dollars and are the same in every country.
The free trial lasts 7 days, with no credit card, and measures 10 questions on ChatGPT and Gemini, which is enough to see where you stand on your most important questions. The plans in full are in Tasadr plans and prices.
What mistakes keep your business out of the answer in the UAE?
Seven mistakes we see often on the sites of businesses that serve the UAE in two languages:
- An Arabic version machine-translated from the English, in words your Arabic-speaking customer does not write.
- One page that mixes the two languages, a paragraph in Arabic and the next in English.
- Prices on the English version that differ from the Arabic one, so the engine finds two versions of the same figure.
- The business name in one form on the site and another in directories and on the Google Business Profile.
- Pages that name only Dubai, while your customers in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah ask with their own emirate's name.
- Measuring only the English questions and judging the whole market by the result, or the other way round.
- Signing with an agency before you know where you stand, leaving nothing to measure its work against.
What can nobody promise you?
Nobody can guarantee that the engine recommends you in the UAE, in Arabic or in English: it chooses its sources afresh on every question, and nobody sells a place among the sources it cites. Whoever promises you a guarantee is promising what they do not control.
Our figures come from 205 Arabic questions on two engines on 11 and 12 October 2026; they do not describe English questions or every engine. What we can do is measure regularly, show you who was cited instead of you, and why they lead instead of you.
