How do ChatGPT and Google recommend businesses in Egypt?
The Tasadr team · ·13 min read
Egyptians often ask for doctors before clinics and compounds before developers, and engines may recommend the page that answers them in their own words. In our October 2026 measurements, platforms, directories, review sites or marketplaces led 11 of 12 Egyptian sectors. Write pages under doctors' or projects' names, with district and price in pounds, and complete those listings.

What do your customers in Egypt ask an AI engine?
They ask the way they speak. They often type «احسن» ("best") rather than «افضل», start with «مين» ("who"), «فين» ("where"), «كام» ("how much") and «ازاي» ("how"), and name the district before the city: Fifth Settlement, Sheikh Zayed, Maadi, Dokki. The engine may search with the words it was given and recommend the page that answers them.
These are questions as Google's search suggestions in Egypt showed them in October 2026, in plain English here, each with what your page should state to answer it. The work as a whole is called optimising for AI answers (GEO): getting the engine to cite your site when your customer asks.
Customers' questions in Egypt, and what your page should state for each The customer's question What your page should state "who is the best dentist in Cairo" A page for each doctor with their name, specialty and qualifications, the district where they see patients, and their hours "best dentist in Dokki" The address in Dokki and a nearby landmark, how to book, and the consultation fee in Egyptian pounds "best compound in Sheikh Zayed" A page for the project under its own name, its location in Sheikh Zayed, sizes, prices, payment plans and delivery date "best international school in Maadi" The curriculum and certificate, the stages, the fees, the district and school transport "best hotel in Cairo" The district, the view if it is of the Nile, breakfast, and the distance to the airport Why a separate list of questions for Egypt?
Because Egypt is a different market from Saudi Arabia and the UAE: the currency is the Egyptian pound, the market has its own competitors and platforms, and questions are typed in Egyptian words. A ready list is in ten questions for a Cairo dental clinic.
Why do you need a page for each doctor and each project?
Because customers in Egypt often ask about the doctor rather than the clinic, and the compound rather than the developer, as search suggestions show: a patient types "who is the best dentist in Cairo", a buyer types "best compound in Sheikh Zayed". If the engine finds no page for the doctor or the project on your site, it may find one on a booking platform or a property portal.
In search, this is called an entity: a thing with one identity the engine knows, however its name is spelt. So give each doctor a page under their name as patients write it, in Arabic and in Latin letters, and each project a page under its own name. Google says a doctor is an individual practitioner who may have their own Google Business Profile if they see patients directly.
An example: a dental clinic in the Fifth Settlement
An illustrative example, not a real measurement: Nadeer Dental Clinics («عيادات نضير لطب الأسنان») is a fictional clinic in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo, with the site nadeer-dental.com. Its home page lists services and photos of the clinic, with no page for any doctor. When a patient asks "best dentist in the Fifth Settlement", the engine finds no name on the site to recommend, so it cites a booking platform that has a page for each doctor.
So the clinic writes a page for each doctor, with their name, specialty, qualifications, the days they see patients and the consultation fee in Egyptian pounds, and spells the name exactly as on their platform page. The clinic's own site now holds an answer to the patient's question. The clinic is fictional, so the example names no doctors.
Who leads buying answers in the Egyptian market?
Platforms and directories, in most sectors. In our measurements on 12 October 2026 we asked 180 buying questions, written the way customers in Egypt type them, across 12 sectors, about half of them in Egyptian Arabic, on Perplexity and Claude. In 11 of those sectors the most-cited site was a platform, a directory, a review site or a marketplace, and in only one was it a business's own site.
This table comes from the same measurement. We count a site as cited when it is among the links an answer gives as its sources, and since each sector has 15 questions, we give counts, not percentages.
The most-cited sites in Egyptian buying questions by sector, 15 questions per sector, Perplexity and Claude, October 2026 Sector Kind of site cited most Questions it was cited in Hotels A hotel booking platform 13 of 15 Restaurants A global review site 13 of 15 E-commerce A marketplace 12 of 15 Real estate Two property portals 12 of 15 each Law and accounting An international lawyer directory 11 of 15 Clinics A doctor-booking platform 10 of 15 Car rental A chauffeur-driven car rental business's own site 8 of 15 What does this mean for your business?
That your competitor for the answer in Egypt is often the platform that lists you and your competitor side by side. Complete your page on it, and make your name and address there match your site. The method is in how AI engines learn about you beyond your own site.
For clinics, a doctor-booking platform, which gives every doctor a page under their own name, was the site cited most. That is consistent with Egyptian patients asking for the doctor before the clinic, though our figures do not say why the engine chose it.
What should your page say: the name, district, price and opening hours?
A page for each name customers search for, opening with its answer in two lines, then the detail. Six steps, in order:
- The name people search for: the doctor's, project's or branch's name as the page's heading, in Arabic and in Latin letters as people write it.
- The district before the city: Fifth Settlement, Sheikh Zayed or Maadi, plus the street or a nearby landmark, because customers in Greater Cairo often look for what is closest.
- The price in Egyptian pounds: the price the service or unit starts from, what it includes, when it was updated, and any instalment plan, because customers often ask «بكام» ("how much?").
- Hours: working days and hours, Fridays, Ramadan hours, and how to book, with a phone or WhatsApp number.
- Qualification or licence: the doctor's qualifications, or the project's licence and delivery phases, as text on the page rather than an image.
- Your page on the platforms: a complete listing on the booking platform, portal or directory that leads your sector, under the same name and address as your site, matching your Google Business Profile.
Which Arabic should your page use for customers in Egypt?
Simple Modern Standard Arabic that every customer understands, in Cairo, Alexandria and the Gulf alike. Egyptian customers' own words belong in section headings and FAQs, such as «كام سعر زراعة الأسنان في التجمع؟» ("how much is a dental implant in the Fifth Settlement?"), because the engine may search with the words it was given, and a page that carries both speaks to both phrasings. The general rules for writing a page in Arabic are in the steps to lead AI answers in Arabic.
Do Google AI Overviews and AI Mode work in Egypt?
Yes. Google's two help pages list Egypt and Arabic among the supported countries and languages for Google AI Overviews and for AI Mode, as we read them on 17 October 2026. So Google may write your Egyptian customer a summary above the search results, or a full answer in the AI Mode tab.
Google says a page needs to be indexed and eligible to be shown with a snippet to appear in either, with no special files or markup, so the basis of your place in them is the basis of your place in Google Search itself. The detail is in the guide to Google AI Overviews in Saudi Arabia and what Google's AI Mode is, and how it picks its sources.
Since 31 August 2026 every site has had a generative AI performance report in Google Search Console, showing your pages' impressions in both features by country, so you can see Egypt on its own. ChatGPT, for its part, may search the web when your customer's question needs current information, and may cite the pages it finds, so the question that matters to you is whether it finds yours.
Do you need an SEO company in Egypt to lead AI answers?
Not before you measure. Some business owners in Egypt search for "SEO company in Egypt" and "SEO services prices in Egypt", and some call this work "AI SEO". The difference between the two names is covered in is "AI SEO" the same as GEO?
It is more useful to learn first where you stand in your customers' questions, who leads them instead of you, and which platforms lead your sector, and only then to choose who works with you on what the figures reveal. Ask them about your customers' questions in Egyptian Arabic, and about measuring before and after the work, not for a promised ranking or answer.
How to choose who helps you is in who analyses sites in AI answers, and the costs are in what optimising for AI answers costs. Tasadr's prices are the same in US dollars in Egypt as in every other country.
Are the Egyptian market's seasons different from the Gulf's?
Yes. Egypt has seasons with no counterpart in the Saudi calendar, such as Sham el-Nessim and the Prophet's Birthday, Ramadan can start there a day after Saudi Arabia, as it did in 1447 AH, and the North Coast's summer season has no date set by any official body. The full Egyptian calendar, and when to add each season's questions, is in buying seasons in Egypt.
How do you know whether the engine recommends your business in Egypt?
Ask it your Egyptian customers' questions in their own words, in Egyptian Arabic and in Modern Standard Arabic, then read in every answer whether your name is mentioned and who was cited. A question in dialect may find different sources from the same question in standard Arabic.
Tasadr (تصدَّر) is Arabic-first AI search competitive intelligence with a complete optimization workflow, from measurement to execution, until you lead AI answers. You set your site to Egypt and the Egyptian dialect, so its suggested questions are written in your customers' words, and we measure them. Every answer gets one of four outcomes, cited, mentioned without a link, absent or no answer, all set out in how we measure your score.
Anyone selling in both Egypt and the Gulf measures each country in a separate site with its own questions, as set out in how to lead AI answers in more than one Arab country. The UAE, where some customers also ask in English, is covered in does ChatGPT recommend you in the UAE in Arabic and English?
What can nobody promise you?
Nobody can guarantee that an engine will recommend your business in Egypt. The engine chooses its sources afresh for every question, and nobody sells a place among the sources an engine cites. What we can do is measure regularly and show you who leads your customers' questions today, and what to change first.
Our Egyptian figures come from one measurement on two engines in October 2026, with 15 questions per sector, so read them as a picture of your sector rather than a rule. They do not say why an engine chooses one platform over another.
